"Passion with experience"
Peyton Wesner is an experienced, versatile content creator with bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Wesner was born into a family passionate about sports. His first sporting event was a Minor League Baseball game between the Indianapolis Indians and Louisville Redbirds less than a month after his birth. That August evening was the start of a childhood hobby, which took Wesner across the United States watching professional sporting events.
In high school, Wesner honed his writing, videography and broadcasting skills. His first credentialed coverage was of the Missouri Valley Conference and American Athletic Conference, serving as an online beat writer and correspondent for men’s college basketball. Later, Wesner spent his summers traveling to cover Major League Baseball’s most promising prospects. From exclusively interviewing New York Yankees’ all-star slugger Aaron Judge to Washington Nationals’ infielder Trea Turner, Wesner reveled in telling the stories of Minor League Baseball players fulfilling their dreams.
Over time; however, Wesner's passion burned into different areas, including theme parks and professional wrestling. In fact, when Wesner began his professional pursuit in sports broadcasting with the Montgomery Biscuits of the Southern League, he spent his free time venturing to Orlando, Fla., to visit "The Theme Park Capital of the World" and, also, became captivated by professional wrestling. It is in this way that Orlando became a “home away from home” for Wesner, who makes multiple trips each year.
Serving as a broadcasting, media relations and digital production intern, the University of Illinois graduate student was the youngest broadcaster in Double-A Minor League Baseball during the 2018 regular season. Learning under the tutelage of “The Voice of the Biscuits” Chris Adams-Wall, Wesner is prepared to thrive in a multitude of different areas within journalism and public relations.
